Purpose & Tasks
The Association shall promote the formation of networks in the florist industry. The association shall in particular aim to develop training around florist profession and related operations. As part of this work will organize club events, training courses, seminars or other gatherings of suitable character. Its purpose is to conduct its business in accordance with good craftsmanship and simultaneously promote innovation and enterprise. The association sees itself as an advisory party against the authorities or other organisations on issues related to professional florists and florist training, and are working towards a good contact with those parties. The association shall function actively to raise the status of the florist trade. For the financing of activities of the association receives the association dues of its members.

Kainuu Vocational College is the largest and the most versatile vocational educational unit in the Region of Kainuu in Finland. Its main task is to support the economical development of the Kainuu Region. It also gives good competence to young and adult students to get skills and knowledge in different professions. It also offers a good start to continue studies to higher education (polytechnics and universities).

The Region of Kainuu is a part of sparsely inhabited North-Finland. Characteristic to Kainuu is vast number of forests (95 % of land area) and a fresh nature. Anyway there are the good connections to Europe (transportation nets by electronic communications, roads, railways and air-traffic).

In the Region of Kainuu there are 88.000 inhabitants, total land area is 24.000 km2 . The regional capital, the City of Kajaani (established in year 1651) has 38.000 inhabitants.

YOUTH EDUCATION:
Seven educational sectors:
1. Culture: crafts and design, audiovisual communication, music. 300 students.
2. Natural resources and the environment: agriculture, horticulture, forestry.
3. Business and administration.
4. Health and Social Services:  practical nurse, hairdressing.
5. Technology and transport: vehicle technology, logistics, machinery and metal, maintenance technology, construction technology, paper and chemical industry, wood industry, electrical ingineering, food production.
6. Tourism, catering and Home Economics: hotel, restaurant and catering field, tourism, home economics.

AOC Terra is an Agricultural Education Centre (AOC) of almost 6000 students and offers land based (agricultural/ green) education. Land based education is divided into prevocational (vmbo), senior secondary vocational (mbo) and higher vocational studies (hbo). AOC Terra offers vmbo and mbo. The vmbo course provides general training, primarily using plants and animals to provide students with a fertile, motivational learning environment. The mbo course includes areas of study such as food technology, landscape management, horse management, flowers and design, (paraveterinary) animal care, sport and recreation, care and the environment and (agricultural) technology. AOC Terra is situated in the north of the Netherlands and consists of twelve schools: seven schools for prevocational education, four schools for senior secondary vocational education (16 years and up) and one school for senior secondary vocational education (18 years and up) and part-time courses. The (senior) secondary vocational education prepares fulltime students and apprentices for four levels of achievement, corresponding to the EU-level 1, 2, 3 and 4, based on the length of the course: 1, 2, 3 or 4 years of study. The broad range of studies are divided into several worlds, related to green, food, animal and environment .

Routes
Senior secondary vocational education knows two routes, BOL (beroepsopleidende leerweg, day-release route) and BBL (beroepsbegeleidende leerweg, on the job route).
BOL: learning and practical training. The maximum time spend at school is 80%, 20% is practical training.
BBL: working and learning. One or two days are spent at school. Next to that, you have a job for 960 hours per year in your future working area.

Floweracademy in Slovenia

Ph. D. Sabina Šegula was born on 10. 12. 1968 in Kranj. In 2012 she finished her PhD studies at the
Biotechnical College at the University of Ljubljana. In her post-bachelor studies, she focused on the economic aspect of decorative plant productions in Slovenia. Meanwhile she also finished the course of pedagogy and andragogy studies and accomplished the international certificate education of Wellant college in the Netherlands from which she attained the title of First Degree European Florist. She also passed the international exam Masterd Doutch Floral Design at Boerma Instituut Aalsmeer, The Netherlands and specialized at Wedding floristics learning from the world-famous florist Wally Klett in Germany. She take part in an international florist project FlorCert at which she is also the coordinator for Slovenia and she is FlorCert Expert. Together with other professional florists from 5 different countries they are currently writing an international course book for floristics. She has been a teacher of horticulture for 18 years now. She wrote a course book for vocational college Pridelava okrasnih zelnatih rastlin (The Cultivation of Decorative Herbaceus Plants) and books Osnove oblikovanja v cvetličarstvu (The Basics of Floristic Design) and Pogoste sobne rastline v Sloveniji (Common Indoor Plants in Slovenia). She is taking part in many scientific international conferences aside from being a high school teacher, a college professor, researcher and executive of BC Naklo research team. She is also the executive of VIVUS conference review committee at BC Naklo. She is writing professional and popular articles for various Slovenian magazines and is the Editor-and- Chief at Slovenian floristics magazine AKADEMIJA
CVETJA. As a mentor, she takes part in various activities, competitions, exhibitions with her students. Since 2011 she has been involved in the Easter and Christmas decorations of the Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican. She also cooperate with several companies working in the field of floristics.

Secondary School “Arboretum Opeka” from Marčan has been educating students to obtain agricultural occupations – agricultural technician gardener, agricultural technician general, technician of fitopharmacy, technician of agritourism, assistant gardener and florist for the past 54 years. Of a recent date the school also offers the occupations of horticultural technician, forestry technician, cook and assistant cook. The school is fully equipped and the teachers and the teaching staff are continually improving their skills to better meet the needs of students of all occupations. In addition to regular secondary education, education of adults is also conducted and on school polygons dendrological plants and flowers for sale are being produced. As we are one of the first Eco-schools all our activities are directed at preserving the environment. We are also a school without violence – a member of UNICEF project through which students and all employees learn the skills of good communication and nonviolent conflict resolution. There are numerous extracurricular activities to encourage students’ own initiative such as Students’ Association with its many sections (Arranging, beekeeping, creativity section, fruit – growing section, pedology section and organic gardening). We get involved in a variety of projects that have a humanitarian character. During the eight years of participation in the National Competition of Students of Agricultural Schools we had two state champions in the discipline of Flora and Hortus, four silver medalists and won two third places. Our florists have participated in the International Competitions in Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia and have been rewarded many times. As a part of the International Exhibition of Flowers “Baroque music, flowers” we organize the International Competition for Students in Flower Arranging, a project that has offered us a chance to efficiently collaborate with the Agricultural Schools in the mentioned countries. We have successfully organized several seminars in Floristry and hosted florists from Holland, Italy, Slovenia and Germany. At the end of the school year we relax and part from our graduating students by breaking the World Record in Quadrille dancing (European Dance Festival).

The Secondary Vocational School in Pruske belongs to the largest schools in Trenčín region, Slovakia. The school is situated in the countryside, within a border region with the Czech Republic, in an 18th century manor house with adjacent historical park.

Nowadays its main domains are agriculture, horticulture, cynology, floristry, food processing (confectionery), management and countryside entrepreneurship, landscape design and rural tourism. The school offers three-year apprencice courses, four-year courses leading to GCSE (called „maturita“) and post-secondary specialised courses.

Practical training takes place at school and in local companies. We prepare specialists for practice in various fields of agriculture, nutrition, the management of agricultural production, countryside development, horticulture – flower arranging and landscape maintenance.

The association is headquartered in Tussio, a hamlet of Prata d’Ansidonia (AQ), an ancient village whose records date back all’816.

The association held from 6 years of research and promotion of the territory of L’Aquila, through multiple activities related to the discovery and promotion of typical products of the inland areas (agriculture and food).

It organizes and manages teaching at grade schools and different order about the first approaches to floral art.

The association’s activities is reason to be because it operates in the area largely coincides with the “crater” of the earthquake.

The Association of Florists of Puglia and Basilicata is organized as a private association composed of 200 active members and has in its interior, forming part of the Art and Nature School. It’s an association no-profit, no-political administratively  and  legally independent. The main purpose of association is to promote, qualify and implement the floral art culture and its job skill in Puglia and Basilicata. It is proposed to organize floral demonstrations and to make vocational training, in private, to all those who want to start the profession of florist, both at higher levels (postgraduate courses).  The given courses are of high quality and offer professional and competent, just the skills required at European level and according to the paradigms Florcert EU. The Association, with the organic school in its activities, with the collaboration of Italian and qualified teachers with at least Europe, aims to support the sociability; through the dissemination, promotion and organization of shows and events of a professional
